Visual and interface options

Audio and subtitles
Subtitle controls include size, captions, text color, opacity, speaker names, and speaker-name color. Separate volume controls cover main, music, ambient sound, effects, and dialogue, and Voice Boost can raise game dialogue.
EA states that menu narration is not supported.
Controls
Most mouse-and-keyboard and controller inputs can be remapped. Sensitivity and inversion options are available for mouse and joystick controls.
Guidance and difficulty
- Onboarding: guided training missions introduce the game.
- Reference help: on-demand Tool Tips explain keywords and abilities; loading screens can show reminder tips.
- Turn safety: an optional End of Turn Warning helps prevent ending a turn while Action Points remain.
- Difficulty: Story, Normal, Hard, and Expert levels are available.
- Permadeath: permanent squad-member death can be toggled on or off.
